Music is a powerful force.
Often, it's biggest impact is felt between the pews
of our churches and the concert halls of our schools. For that reason, C.A.
House Music will host a special event to offer instruction to
those who produce the sound in our chapels and classes.
The "Church Sound Workshop" with clinician Kent
Morris will be held 6-8 p.m. March 17 at C.A. House Music in St.
Clairsville, March 18th 6-8pm at the C. A. House Music in Parkersburg, WV, and 6-8pm March 19th at the C. A. House Music in Zanesville.
The event is a free presentation of the principle
and practical application of sound reinforcement in a church or
school setting.
Morris' goal is to deliver a "bridge-building
perspective to the technical arena." In layman's terms, he'll help make
the musical experience in Ohio Valley churches and schools more
powerful, inspiring and uplifting.
Morris has the credentials.
For a decade, he served as the live sound engineer
for Paul Baloche, Tommy Walker, Kim Hill and Isreal Houghton. Morris has been a
member of the Audio Engineering Society for the past 20 years.
The church is his setting. He's served as a senior
pastor for the past decade.
The clinic is sponsored by Peavey, and District Sales Manager
Terry Dockrill, who is based in Akron, will be on hand for the event. Dockrill
said the "Church Sound Worship" clinic is intended for both the sound novice and
the seasoned engineer. He said producing quality sound in a church or school can
be a lofty goal. However, he believes Morris can pass along the knowledge
a sound tech needs to meet the task.
"In a lot of cases (in a church or school), the engineers
are the guys with the best stereos" Dockrill said. "They need info, and that is
the point. We take it from the hookups to the E.Q. I've done clinics before, and
(Morris) is a wealth of knowledge for the guys who may not have the chops. He
gives them insight on the things he does when he is on the job. it's a very
informative clinic for those in the craft.
"A lot of times, churches aren't set up for sound in
general," he added. "Now, you may have a drum set in churches, and they weren't
set up to handle it. That's why we are coming - to let them mingle with someone
who does this for a living."
A new microphone will be awarded at the event, and there will
be other door prizes. Those interested are asked to call C.A. House Music St. Clairsville at

Worship" is part of the "Sanctuary Series."
